Guide to Computing by INK and docubyte

These Retouched Photographs Offer a Peek into the Past
Posted by Gestalten—05/2016

The advent of the personal computer’s ubiquity seems so far away: With each year comes a generation of sleeker, slimmer, faster, and more powerful laptops, audio systems, and cell phones. Their ancient predecessors, decrepit with age, have faded from the spotlight of cultural relevant and are often shrouded in cobwebs in niche museums—if they still exist.

London-based production agency INK teamed up with photographer docubyte to offer a look into what these technological bricks might have looked like in their glory days. Together, they photographed a series of old devices from decades ago, then retouching the images and adding bright, monochromatic backgrounds. Titled Guide to Computing, the series is a catalog of anarchronistic remnants as they would have looked at their prime.
