Get inside the House of the Infinite

Alberto Campo Baeza Asks Visitors to Imagine a World with No Borders
Posted by Gestalten—02/2017

Alberto Campo Baeza’s House of the Infinite in Cádiz, Spain, asks visitors to imagine a world with no borders. With its soaring upper limits and striking white surfaces, the pared-down structure is a majestic and imposing architectural force. Yet, the simple lines that define the home’s geometry offer a visual lightness; the spacious upper forum breathes easily despite the heavy choice of materials.

From the inside, a series of picture windows offer a transparency that extends the view from room to room to the unending Atlantic. Skylights punctuate the ceiling and break up the rigid grid-like floor plan. As visitors move through the lower levels and onto the rooftop podium, an arcade of simple archways christen their arrival: welcome to infinity.
