Picasso by Eugenio Recuenco

The Spanish Photographer Recreated Surreal Paintings in this High-Fashion Shoot
Posted by Gestalten—11/2016

As one of the most well-known cubists and surrealists, Pablo Picasso left a lasting impression on 20th-century art history. As a tribute to the prolific painter and sculptor, Eugenio Recuenco recreated some of Picasso’s most famous works for weekly magazine SMODA. In some images, the Spanish photographer used blocky prints and hazy colors to express the same distorted fugue that Picasso was known for; in others, elements of collage and lines of face paint offer a contemporary take on the artist’s interrogation of the shapes, forms, and lines of the human body.
